Process definition, authentication and testing of software-based avionics systems
As is also the case in many other industrial fields, increasingly
complex software solutions for control and monitoring are
used in aircraft con-struction. The complexity of the overall
systems and the criteria of standard DO-178B/ED-12B "Software
Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification"
place particularly high requirements on development departments.
Whilst quality is a paramount issue, time-to-market is also
a decisive factor in the avionics industry. New products have
to be constructed in ever-shorter development cycles. The
definition of suitable software processes, authentication
measures and tests, as well as effective project management
and systematic change and con-figuration management, are measures
that must be taken in order to satisfy these requirements. more
